Top 5 Ways to Use Berkey Water

By Kristy Wise November 07, 2023

Our family has found ways to use Berkey water that maybe you didn't know about.

Once you own a Berkey system, there are many different ways to benefit from this water.

We believe there are 5 common uses that will change your life.

The most obvious water usage is for drinking water. This is the number one purpose for owning one of these systems.

Top 5 Ways To Use Berkey Water

Drinking Berkey Water is the Most Common Use

Berkey water is clean, tasteless, odorless, and refreshing. It's also extremely healthy.

More than 200 contaminants are removed from tap water, making it safe to drink no matter where you live or travel.

Since the Berkey is portable, it allows you to take clean water with you wherever you go.

Pack it up for a camping trip or a beach trip. We've even taken ours to Disney World!

Or, if you're just gone for the day, fill a reusable bottle with this filtered water to take with you.

This water can go just about anywhere you go!

If you want to see how to use one of these systems on a trip, check out this video we made below.

Consuming Berkey water isn't just for your family members, it's also for your pets.

Even farm animals can be given clean water to drink.

#2: Cooking with Berkey Water

Another popular way to use a Berkey is filtered water for cooking.

Whether you cook every day or only occasionally, this water comes in handy.

It stops you from having to use contaminated tap water while cooking.

Of course, there's always the option to boil your water to clean it, but you don't have to do that if you own a Berkey.

The water is already clean and safe to consume.

We use a lot of water while cooking and I always feel much more at ease using filtered water instead of tap water.

You never know what will leach into your food.

#3: Making Ice Cubes with Berkey Water

Are you an ice person? Some people prefer ice in all of their drinks.

If you have an ice maker, it's pulling tap water from your plumbing line. Whatever is coming out of your tap is going into your ice cubes.

If your refrigerator has an ice maker, chances are you have to change a filter often.

Whatever the filter is, it won't remove as many toxins as a Berkey.

For that reason, harmful contaminants are in your ice cubes. But not if you own a Berkey!

Ditch the refrigerator's ice maker and make ice cubes with filtered water.

Berkey filtered ice cubes are one simple way to make sure all of the water you consume is clean.

#4: Homemade Mouth Rinse

My family is health-conscious, and not just when it comes to water.

We eat clean, organic foods and rarely consume fast food. Our family doesn't ingest a lot of sugar.

We also value dental health because we understand how a clean mouth and teeth affect the entire body.

At least once a week we make a homemade mouth rinse with sea salt for our family. We use Berkey water, of course.

Before and after brushing, we swish with the saltwater rinse, which stops bacterial growth, reduces plaque, and alleviates inflammation.

It also heals any cuts or sores in the mouth. There are many great benefits.

If you've never made a homemade mouth rinse with sea salt and filtered water, we highly recommend it.

#5: Water for Storage

Last but not least, Berkey water is great for storage.

If you're interested in prepping for survival situations, water is an essential need.

There are different ways to store water. You could use glass gallon bottles, which can be stored with filtered water in no time.

Another option is to use water barrels. These would take longer to fill if you're adding Berkey water to them, but it's still possible to do.

Berkey's Biofilm Drops are necessary for water barrels, whether or not you're adding already filtered water to them.

The Biofilm Drops keep the water clean and free of any biofilm build-up.

Chances are, you live in an area where you are concerned about one natural disaster or another.

Storing water in advance is a smart way to ensure your family will have clean water to drink in the event of an emergency.

Knowing all the Different Ways to Use Berkey Water

Whether you are a long-time Berkey owner or you're considering purchasing one, it's important to know all the different possible uses for Berkey water.

If you use a Berkey in the 5 common ways we listed above, you will almost always be consuming clean, pure water.

Your chances of ingesting toxins through your water supply will be vastly eliminated.

This clean water consumption will change the health course of your life.

Enjoy all of the ways Berkey provides clean water to you and your family!
